An exciting new addition to our timetable has been confirmed. Football training via the Danny Ings Disability Sport Project will be held each Thursday afternoon at Turf Moors indoor training facility (Elite Training Centre ETC). This is an addition to our usual Thursday community activity.

Our first visit to the Elite Training Centre with Burnley FC in the Community and the Danny Ings Disability Sport Project, was a massive success with all our members and staff. Matty and Sam made sure that everyone gained something positive from the day.

We couldn't have wished for anything better from the Burnley FC in the Community team. Even those of us that aren't fans of our hosts now have a favourite Claret. That is Danny Ings. We appreciate all you have done and hope a full England call up is just around the corner. Thank You.

It wasn't all about the visit to the ETC at Burnley FC. All our activities in our timetable continued as usual. Adding to the timetable takes careful planning and input from our members so that they are doing activities that they enjoy. To see the 2015 timetable go to the Activities tab above. As always check out our Facebook page for lots more photographs of activities updated the day they happen.

Lots of activities as usual with more planned. Five trips have been added to our calendar with the first being a Steam train journey in May. Blackpool Sandcastle, Zoo and Pleasure Beach along with a day at Southport beach are the others confirmed.

Another activity packed week . The new activities have been excitedly participated in by all our members. As usual, we've had plenty of exercise this week. Badminton, table tennis, swimming, football training, bowling and our own gym.
Simon Peter and Sefo Kanuteh guested for a musical workshop as part of our music lesson. Sefo gave a performance of music, playing his Kora and taking questions from our members.
Our horticulture teacher Julie has been working really hard making our wooden raised beds ready for a blooming good Spring & Summer.
We have also cut back all the ivy in the walled garden on our car park, but left it nice and clean for the birds and bees as we want to maintain a home for nature to thrive. We have a small herb garden ready for us to start to grow our own herbs and hopefully tomatoes ready for the salad season to continue our healthy eating. Roll on Summer. Thank you Julie. More pictures will be added following the progress

April  07 - 10  2015

Super week helped by the weather and plenty of varied activities. Pictures are from New Era on Wednesday with the creation of tasty snacks being prepared and finished. Also, visits on Thursday and Friday from Matty, Nathan and Sam from the Danny Ings Disabilty Sports Project. They came along to see what we get up to and their enthusiasm rubs off on all of us at Bridge Centre NWL. On Thursday, they enjoyed a buffet lunch with our members then snooker in our common room before a kickabout in Oak Hill Park.
On Friday they joined in with pool and darts at the Stanley club.
Our trip to Bury on the East Lancashire Railway was as exciting as we expected. We were well looked after by all the staff at ELR who went out of their way to make our day special. We had lunch at McDonalds and then a look around the shops.
Our next trip is to Blackpool Sandcastle in June.

MAY 2015

May has been another eventful month. Right from the 1st day with the wedding of two of our staff members until the last working day today, the 29th.There is a special bond between the staff and members that showed when Shellie took them on the minibus to see the wedding. Quality photograph, smiles all round.

Our new minibus has added extra travel options when needed and is already clocking up the miles. It has been used on lots of activities and there are lots more planned. Our activities have again been varied. Art saw the making of beautiful cup cake containers, an afternoon at Witton Park with lunch at Slaters Quarters was added to our diary due to half term change of timetables elsewhere. We've continued to enjoy the fantastic relationship built up with all at the Danny Ings Disability Project. So much so, that during half term, they come to visit us and join in with our activities. Burnley bowling last week.

We've welcomed another new member too this week. He was straight into the activities. Shopping, baking, golf, music lesson as well as the fun of being with our fantastic group of members, all on his two days spent with us. Our members are keen to be involved in as much as possible. An example is, one member helps make breakfast on the days that he attends and really enjoys the experience, even the cleaning up.

Bridge Centre NWL  received a certificate and letter from Blackburn College for the practical support and training we offer to students. We are keen to pass on some of our vast experience from our highly trained staff.

Another varied week of activities. Tuesday saw the awards  presentation at Burnley Bowling. Sean won a medal for his constant high scoring whilst all our members received certificates. Pictures will be added once they've been edited. New Era on Wednesday produced tasty and healthy fruit kebabs and salad wraps. There's always plenty to do at the New Era with a variety of activities for everyone. Thursday afternoon was spent at Towneley Park.

Our 8th birthday in a month saw more cake and another celebration.

This week also saw our last visit until September to the Danny Ings Disability Sports Project at Burnley. This has proven to be a favourite activity added to our busy timetable this year. Every person is catered for by the variety of games organised by Matty, Sam, the two Nathans and Josh. Our enthusiasm matches the enthusiasm shown throughout by them.

Our new games room has been created by moving the offices down stairs. We've added two smart TV's, games consoles along with 5 notebooks to give our members other choices when we are not out on our activities. The photograph on the left shows the newly painted room all set up ready to go.

We had a quick return to Towneley Park on Tuesday. We had a long walk around the park as well as a refreshments. The walking theme continued on our trip to Blackpool Zoo on Thursday.

Our third trip of the year was to Blackpool Zoo. Even though there was a lot of walking, everybody enjoyed their day. The weather was nice so the lunch and ice-creams were well received.

We still have two more trips planned, Southport in August and Blackpool Pleasure Beach in September.

Lots going on with Trafford Centre Shopping Trip on the last Thursday in November being the first. The winning Christmas Card was chosen to be used as our card for 2015. An amazing piece of Art by Joshua was the judges unanimous choice.

DanceSyndrome was brilliant again. It brings massive smiles to everyone.
